RUSKIN HEIGHTS HOMES ASSOCIATION NEWS FOR WEEK OF 12/05/2016 Well it has been a couple of weeks since my last article, so there are a few things to get caught up on. During this time of the year, when there is inclement weather, please call our office at 816-761-6050 before dropping by to make sure someone is in the office.  Our office may not be open, but we can work at home, and all messages left can be returned that day.  Our Holiday hours are posted below in the calendar section. Here in the office we are updating our records in preparation for the 2017 dues billing.  If your billing address has changed or you no longer own property in Ruskin Heights, please let us know.  Invoices will be mailed January 1, 2017 and will be due January 31, 2017.  If you would like to invoice emailed to you, please contact our office and we can email the invoice which will have a web-link at the bottom that will allow you to pay your invoice online using an E-check, debit or credit card for your convenience. RESIDENTS, do you know of vacant houses within our neighborhood?  If you are aware of such houses, please call our office at 816-761-6050.  Here at the office we can do some research and reach out to the owner(s) of the property.  We have several properties that we are working with Legal Aid to pursue Abandoned Housing Act to get possession so that rehabbers can bring these houses up-to- date and become a viable part of our neighborhood again.  Some houses are vacant and we are not aware of it, so if you can help, that would be greatly appreciated. December 13th Ruskin Heights Homes Association Meeting at 7:00 pm @ Westminster               Baptist Church, 11230 Bristol Ter. 23rd Trash Day 24th Christmas Eve – OFFICE CLOSED 25th Christmas Holiday 26th Christmas Holiday Observed – OFFICE CLOSED 31st TRASH DAY due to the Holiday.  TRASH AMNESTY – To accommodate the extra trash accumulated during the holiday season, the City will grant residents trash amnesty from Tuesday, December 27th to Saturday, December 31st.  During this time, residents may dispose of up to 15 bags of trash (or up to 500 pounds) on the curb without tagging the trash bags.  Remember that the City’s unlimited curbside recycling program can help reduce the amount of trash bags.   PLEASE NOTE, paper gift wrap is NOT recyclable. --Sandy Sexton  View Ruskin Landlord Group Meeting Video

Our neighbors are encouraged to call our

office at 816-761-6050 to report any

property that you suspect has been vacant

for over six months.  We will be working

with the City in identifying these vacancies

and working with the new Ordinance

140983 Amending Article VII, Chapter 56

Vacant Property Receiver.  We then can

identify the properties and match them with

rehabbers to bring these properties up-to-

date.  There are several examples, where

the owners are deceased, and the house

just sits, and those that have “walked away”.

Let’s form a partnership in working with our

office to deal with these eyesores.  We have

already started a list and currently have

three to four houses in the works to be

rehabbed.
