Fall 2026 Leaf & Brush Collection
Fall is almost here, which means it’s time to prepare for Kansas City’s seasonal curbside leaf and brush collection.
For South Kansas City, the first Fall 2026 collection will take place October 19–23, 2026. Residents should place their eligible yard waste at the curb on their regular trash collection day.
South Kansas City Collection Schedule
- Monday trash day: October 19
- Tuesday trash day: October 20
- Wednesday trash day: October 21
- Thursday trash day: October 22
- Friday trash day: October 23
What Can Be Collected?
Eligible yard waste includes leaves, sticks, branches, tree trimmings, brush and grass trimmings.
Preparing Your Yard Waste
Leaves and other loose yard debris should be placed in paper lawn debris sacks. Kansas City allows a maximum of 20 sacks and bundles per household.
Branches must be bundled and cannot exceed 3 inches in diameter. Bundles should be no larger than 2 feet in diameter and 4 feet long, and should be tied using twine or jute rope.
Items may be placed at the curb no earlier than 3:00 p.m. the day before collection and should be out no later than 7:00 a.m. on collection day.
Please keep leaf and brush materials at least four feet away from trash and recycling carts to help collection crews work safely and efficiently.
Taking a little time to properly prepare leaves and brush helps keep Ruskin Heights clean and makes collection easier for everyone.
